Mission Machinery completes a 10‑ton‑per‑hour coffee bean cleaning and processing line in Ethiopia. From order to operation in six months. Learn about the integrated system and CEO insights.

ZHENGZHOU, China – April 1, 2026 – Six months after the initial order, Mission Machinery has wrapped up installation of a complete coffee bean processing plant in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The client, a local agribusiness company, placed the order in October 2025; equipment was shipped the following month, and by late March 2026 the line was fully operational.

The system is built around Mission Machinery’s coffee bean cleaning and processing technology—the same product line detailed on the company’s website. Designed to handle ten metric tons of green coffee beans per hour, the plant takes raw beans through a full sequence: pre‑cleaning, destoning, hulling, polishing, grading, gravity separation, color sorting, manual checking, and finally packaging. Rather than operating as separate units, the equipment works as an integrated flow, letting the client maintain steady output while meeting the quality standards that specialty coffee buyers expect.

For the core cleaning stages, the line uses high‑capacity machines that remove everything from large debris to fine dust without damaging the beans. The TQSF/TQSFB Destoner relies on precision air control to pull out stones and heavy material, a step that can make or break final cup quality. The MMTP Coffee Huller is designed to handle different coffee varieties without cracking the beans—an important detail in Ethiopia, where producers often work with multiple heirloom types. A Color Sorter adds an extra layer of quality assurance by detecting and ejecting defective beans based on optical differences.

“We knew the timeline was tight when the client signed in October, but our team and the local partners made it work,” said Chalie Chan, Founder and CEO of Mission Machinery. “Ethiopia is a major coffee origin, and we’ve already installed more than 40 production lines across China, Ethiopia, and Uganda. Getting this Addis Ababa plant running by March means the client can process during the coming harvest without interruption.” Chan noted that the full‑line approach—covering cleaning, sorting, and packaging in a single facility—helps local agribusinesses move beyond basic processing and access higher‑value export channels.

Mission Machinery, founded in Zhengzhou in 2006, now operates a 40,000‑square‑meter factory and builds integrated systems for corn, wheat, pulses, and other grains across the entire value chain. The company’s grain processing solutions have been deployed in multiple Ethiopian facilities, reflecting a growing preference in the region for post‑harvest technology that reduces reliance on manual sorting and inconsistent batch quality.

With the Addis Ababa line now running, Mission Machinery is providing ongoing support through local service partners and remote troubleshooting. The company expects the plant to operate continuously through the upcoming harvest season, supplying both domestic roasters and export markets.
